Holiday Inn Express fire
At Holiday Inn Express in Aberdeen, an occupant in a room woke up at 3:49 a.m. on Saturday to find smoke in his room, according to another Fire Marshal‘s notice of investigation.
The fire, caused by a malfunctioning exhaust fan, had been self-extinguished when firefighters arrived and caused about $500 worth of damage, according to the Fire Marshal’s report.
The room’s smoke alarm failed to activate, and “it is currently being investigated as to why the alarm did not properly operate,” according to the report.
Fifteen Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded to the fire.
