Buck’s Restaurant kitchen grease fire ruled accidental

RISING SUN — A flare up on the stove while someone was cooking was the reason given for the Wednesday night fire at Buck’s Restaurant, according to investigators with the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Michael Selvage said the fire at 314 E. Main St. began just before 9 p.m. in the kitchen of the restaurant, when flames from the gas stove flared and ignited a nearby wall.

Damage was estimated at $10,000, but luckily no one was injured.

Twenty firefighters from Rising Sun, Water Witch and Oxford, Pa., fire companies worked to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes, officials reported.
